In my design philosophy, I believe in allowing yourself to wander and to get lost—in both your craft and the world. I believe in HAVING FUN! The best things in life never go according to plan, and it's in the unexpected that I find inspiration. At the heart of my work is curiosity. I'm enthralled by the moments that can't be scripted and the possibilities that emerge from uncertainty. I create with the hope that my work encourages others to pause, feel something genuine, and walk away with a new idea to ponder.
During my time in university, I studied with a professor who had travelled the world seeking tales of design. A lover of art history, stories, and process. Every exam we took was a measure of our ability to think, not memorize. Besides my own travels, I had never experienced anything so rich in knowledge, wisdom, and curiosity. I was taught that our walls should always be a reflection of our process. To collect and archive, to display and study, our walls should be the sketchbook of our minds. Ever since learning under my professor, I have strived to make my space one that fosters creativity.
My hallways are covered with the pursuit of creative thinking. From recycling wine bottles into drinking glasses, embroidering a fabric collage tapestry with textile samples from the local opportunity shop, and turning my garage into a ceramic studio, I will never lose sight of creating with my own two hands.
